AN ACT TO AUTHORIZE THE BOARD OF SUPERVISORS OF STONE COUNTY, MISSISSIPPI, TO LEVY AN ASSESSMENT, IN ADDITION TO ANY OTHER ASSESSMENTS AND COURT COSTS, FOR EACH MISDEMEANOR CONVICTION OBTAINED IN ITS JUSTICE COURT(S); TO PROVIDE THAT THE AVAILS OF SUCH ADDITIONAL ASSESSMENT SHALL BE USED TO FUND THE CONSTRUCTION, OPERATION AND MAINTENANCE OF A NEW COUNTY OFFICE BUILDING, TO BE KNOWN AS THE "W. D. 'DUB' RUSTIN MEMORIAL BUILDING"; TO PROVIDE A REPEALER DATE OF JULY 1, 2009; AND FOR RELATED PURPOSES.

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI:

SECTION 1. (1) The Board of Supervisors of Stone County, Mississippi, in its discretion, is authorized, by resolution duly adopted and entered on its minutes, to levy an assessment, in addition to any other assessments and court costs, not to exceed Four Dollars ($4.00) per case, for each misdemeanor conviction obtained in any justice court of Stone County.

(2) The avails of the additional assessment imposed pursuant to subsection (1) of this section shall be expended by the Board of Supervisors of Stone County to fund the construction, operation, maintenance and related needs of a new county office building, to be known as the "W. D. 'Dub' Rustin Memorial Building."

(3) The provisions of this section shall be repealed from and after July 1, 2009.

SECTION 2. This act shall take effect and be in force from and after its passage.
